Event Detailed Description
The unwavering commitment of Hon’ble Chancellor Shri Suneel Galgotia and Hon’ble CEO Dr. Dhruv Galgotia towards nurturing a robust startup and innovation ecosystem at Galgotias University continues to inspire a culture where ideas are not only encouraged but systematically transformed into scalable and sustainable ventures. Their visionary leadership stands as a testament to the University’s mission of empowering young minds to become problem solvers, innovators, and future entrepreneurs.

In alignment with this vision, the Galgotias Incubation Centre for Research, Innovation, Startups & Entrepreneurs (GICRISE), in collaboration with the School of Business, Galgotias University, successfully organized an insightful session on “Innovation/Prototype Validation – Converting Innovation into a Start-up” for budding entrepreneurs. The session was conducted by Mr. Kamal Kishor Malhotra, CEO, GICRISE, who brought extensive experience in startup mentoring, validation frameworks, and ecosystem building.

The session began with an overview of the evolving startup landscape in India, emphasizing that ideas alone do not create impact—validated solutions do. Participants were guided to understand the clear distinction between an idea, innovation, and a startup, highlighting that validation is the critical bridge that converts assumptions into market-ready solutions. Mr. Malhotra stressed that every successful startup begins with an idea, but only validation makes it real and investable.

A major focus of the session was on prototype development and validation, where participants learned that a prototype is a basic working model designed to test feasibility, demonstrate functionality, and gather user feedback. The importance of validating prototypes with real users was strongly emphasized, as it helps answer key questions such as: Does the solution truly solve the problem? Is it usable? Are users willing to adopt or pay for it?

The speaker elaborated on the step-by-step process of prototype validation, including identifying and re-validating the problem, building a Minimum Viable Prototype (MVP), testing with real users, collecting feedback, iterating based on insights, and finally validating market demand. Through practical examples, students were made aware of common mistakes such as falling in love with ideas instead of problems, building without user feedback, ignoring market realities, and over-engineering early prototypes.

Another key highlight of the session was the transition “From Innovation to Start-up”, where Mr. Malhotra explained the essential attributes of a successful startup—being innovation-driven, technology-enabled, problem-focused, market-ready, and scalable & sustainable. He reinforced that startups succeed not merely through smart ideas, but through smart thinking combined with continuous validation.

The session concluded with guidance on creating effective pitch decks, covering crucial components such as problem statements, unique value propositions, market analysis (TAM/SAM/SOM), competitive landscape, revenue models, roadmaps, and team strength. The interactive nature of the session encouraged participants to think critically, ask questions, and reflect on their entrepreneurial journeys.

Overall, the session proved to be highly impactful, equipping budding entrepreneurs with practical frameworks, real-world insights, and a validation-first mindset essential for transforming innovation into successful startups, in true alignment with the entrepreneurial vision of Galgotias University.

Event Outcome:

The session concluded with strong takeaways on the critical role of validation in building successful startups. Participants understood that innovation becomes impactful only when it addresses real problems, demonstrates usability, and shows market acceptance. Through practical frameworks, real-world examples, and clear validation steps, the session empowered students to adopt a problem-first and user-centric approach. It reinforced the philosophy that failure during validation is learning, not loss. Overall, the event significantly strengthened entrepreneurial thinking among students and reaffirmed Galgotias University’s commitment to nurturing innovation-led, market-ready, and sustainable startups aligned with national startup and innovation goals.
