Event Detailed Description
The Galgotias Incubation Centre for Research Innovation Startup & Entrepreneurs (GICRISE), in association with the Galgotias School of Design and the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, successfully organized the "Design and Tech Sprint Challenge" on 12-13 October 2025. The challenge invited participation from students, budding entrepreneurs, and tech enthusiasts across disciplines, offering them an exciting platform to collaboratively solve real-world problems through design thinking, innovation, and cutting-edge technology.
The two-day event was structured to simulate a dynamic innovation environment, where participants worked intensively in teams to ideate, prototype, and pitch solutions. The event commenced with an inaugural address from Hon’ble CEO Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, who emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in fostering future-ready entrepreneurs. His inspiring words encouraged participants to think beyond traditional boundaries and utilize the sprint as an opportunity to turn ideas into actionable prototypes.
The first day of the challenge focused on problem identification and solution design. Participants were provided with problem statements from various industries, including healthcare, education, sustainability, and smart city solutions. With guidance from industry mentors and academic experts, teams immersed themselves in brainstorming sessions and user-centric design activities. The hands-on design thinking workshop conducted by faculty from the School of Design empowered participants to adopt a structured approach to creativity, encouraging empathy, ideation, and fast-paced prototyping.
Day two highlighted the integration of technology into the designed concepts. Participants transitioned from design frameworks to digital and tech-enabled prototypes using tools like Figma, Arduino, Flutter, and AI-based platforms. The Sprint also included an exclusive coding and UI/UX clinic led by experts from the Department of CSE, aimed at helping teams refine both the functionality and user experience of their solutions.
The final pitching round was evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising startup founders, venture capitalists, and domain experts. The judging criteria included innovation, feasibility, scalability, design execution, and technology integration. The winning teams received cash prizes, incubation support, and access to prototyping labs at GICRISE, alongside mentorship opportunities for future development.
